YAXLEY PARISH COUNCIL

CEMETERY RULES AND  REGULATIONS

Yaxley Cemetery is laid out as a lawn cemetery with all areas, other than the beds at the head of the graves, being kept under grass. To adhere to current Health and Safety Regulations, the only types of memorial permitted are a headstone or a vase block, to an approved pattern, which must be installed in the bed.

If a vase block is installed it must be positioned in the bed at the head of the grave, in line with headstones on adjacent graves. No other ornaments, vases or lights are to be placed in the bed at the head of the grave. If overcrowding of the bed at the head of the grave occurs the extra items will be removed.

Kerbs, rails or chippings are not permitted as part of any memorial and memorials may not be installed until six months after the date of burial.

No trees, shrubs, plants flowers or vases, other than a receptacle which is an integral part of a permanent memorial, may be placed or planted around graves.

Old flowers, wreaths and other floral tributes must be disposed of in the waste containers provided. The watering cans must be returned to their collection point at the entrance of the cemetery.

Christmas wreaths may be placed on graves. The Council usually remove Christmas wreaths during the course of the last two weeks of January depending on the groundsmen’s rota of work.

Vaults for the internment of cremated remains have an integral vase, and no other vases are permitted. Vases and items protruding onto neighbouring vaults will be removed.

Please keep the Garden of Rest clear of vases to allow the grass to be cut and the area kept tidy.

Any items or plants placed in contravention of these regulations may be removed.

Thank you for your co-operation in observing the regulations, enabling a high standard of maintenance of the cemetery, for the benefit of all.
