Present:-  Cllrs Rees, Rickman, Youles, Garvey,  Oliver and Stafford also present the Clerk Mrs Tibble and Senior Groundsman Graham Hill

Election of Chairman

Cllr Rees was proposed by Cllr Rickman, seconded Cllr Stafford and carried.

Cemetery

a) Planting between graves – Proposed Cllr Youles seconded Cllr Stafford that roses be planted between the beds.

b) Tree planting along the cattle walk – proposed Cllr Youles seconded Cllr Rickman that this should now begin to take place.

c) Granet in garden of rest – this has now been completed. Thanks given to Fenland Stoneworks for their efforts and sensitivity.

d) Grass cutting and edging – this matter is to be referred to F & GP Committee as it is a staffing issue – an extra pair of hands is required.

e) Kynder area – memorial and ceremony – Cllr Rees would like to use the cross from the garden of rest to mark the kynder area where there are no headstones – She would like a ceremony to be attended by the children of the village – Cllr Rees will look into the costings for such an event and place it on a full council agenda.

f) Memorial plaque for Slovak Pilot who crashed in his Lancaster bomber in Windsor Road – This is a matter that has been brought to the attention of Cllr Rees – Again she will investigate the cost of such a memorial and plaque and place the matter of a full council agenda.

g) Damaged graves – Council would speak to Peter North regarding the course he attended for guidance.

h) Gates Maintenance – Cllr Rees to obtain three quotes for a repaint and quotes for the gate posts to be repaired.

j) Prices for Data base searches – now that the data base is up to date it is considered that we should reduce our search fees – Proposed that £10 for Old Cemetery search, £7 for New Cemetery search and £5 for an ashes search. Proposed Cllr Rees seconded Cllr Rickman.

 

6.

Chapel

Grant funding – this subject would be approached within the Parish Plan Questionnaire.

 

7.

War Memorial

The repairs are to be carried out by Fenland Stoneworks and will hopefully be completed by November 2008 in time for Remembrance Sunday.

 

8.

Cemetery extension

Cambridgeshire County Council/Anglia Water is to be contacted with regard to drainage.
