Finance and General Purposes Committee

Tuesday 17th April  2007 at 7.30 pm

 

Meeting commenced at 7.40pm due to previous meeting overrunning.

Financial Matters

Cllr Rickman has prepared a new management budget form and the Clerk would email this to Cllr Youles and this would be put on next month’s agenda.

Noted.

Internal and External Audit

The Clerk reported back to the Council regarding BACS payments and direct debits. The Clerk had spoken to Barclays Bank and they felt that there was no reason why wages could not be paid by BACS the mandate could be signed by two signatories just like the cheques the same applies to the Direct Debits. Proposed by Cllr Rickman seconded Cllr Cork and carried that the Clerk be allowed to put this practices into action.

Correspondence

a) Letter from Huntingdon District Council – Street name and numbering – noted.

Planning Consultations

0700884FUL – Mr and Mrs M Baker – extension of dwelling – 22 Green Lane, Yaxley – recommend approval

Health and Safety and Security

 The Clerk reported to Council following her investigations into mobile phones. The Council felt that as this is a health and safety issue the purchase of mobiles phones should go ahead. A contract would be entered into with T-mobile rather than pay as you go. Six phones would be purchased. The staff are responsible for keeping their phones charge and in their possession whilst at work. A penalty of £20 would be charged should a member of staff loose their phone. Proposed Cllr Cork seconded Cllr Youles carried.

Insurance

Following on from the Full Council meeting Cllr Youles will complete his investigation and recommendations and report back to full council at the next meeting in time for the renewal of insurance on 1st June 2007.
