Progress report from Willmott Boddington

Drainage problem has now been solved although the cost is still in dispute and we are awaiting a breakdown of the extra cost so that we can pursue the developers of the site. Tarmac for the car park is due to be completed on Friday 7th December 2007 and the electricity supply should also be in this week. The decorators are also in.

Discussion on all matters relevant to the development and future use

Queens Park sign – a design of sign was agreed up and the Clerk would order the same. She would also check with the Football Foundation as to their requirements.

Job Advertisement – Advert agreed and the Clerk would now advertise on the website and on the notice boards.

Furniture for lecture room – the Clerk would try to obtain cheaper quotes and also look at the provision for window dressing i.e. vertical blinds.

Security alarms – Quotes had been obtained and it was proposed by Cllr Butcher seconded by Cllr Oliver that we accept the quote from Britannia. The Clerk would contact them to get the alarm installed. We also need to look into a lock being placed on the entrance doors to the Hall.

Landscaping – leave until the builders have completed their landscaping but we can get on with the front of the site.

Goal posts – Clerk to go ahead and order together with boot cleaners and 1m marking poles and ropes and corner flags.

Notices – We also need plaques outside to state that boots are not to be worn inside.

Opening Event – the event will be in January 2008, there is a list of invited guests. We will need a catering firm, a PA System and the Clerk will need to contact the Football Foundation to see if they have a celebrity in mind that could officially open the pavilion.

Press Release Tuesday 31 October 2006

YAXLEY PARISH COUNCIL NET £260K FOOTBALL
FUNDING BOOST

Footballers in Yaxley were celebrating today following a £257,221 award to Yaxley Parish Council by the Football Foundation, the UK’s largest sports charity.

The cash bonanza will allow the Council, along with their many supporters, the largest being Yaxley Football Club and Woodston Dynamo Colts Football Club, to develop football and sports facilities for the village and surrounding areas.

The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the FA Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity with a £45m budget going straight into the heart of football.

Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation said:

“We warmly congratulate Yaxley Parish Council for their hard work and dedication in securing this award. I also would like to acknowledge the important role of the Huntingdonshire FA and the Huntingdonshire Local Football Partnership in making this happen.

“This development will be a massive boost for sport in the area and I am delighted that the Football Foundation is supporting the project.”

Clive Thorne, representative of Yaxley Parish Council, stated:

“The members of the Council started their efforts to obtain this site for sports development in February 1990 and it has been a long and difficult task. We are very grateful for this large sum of money which will meet 50% of the cost of the pavilion and car park and is the last piece of the jigsaw. We are hoping for this facility to be up and running for September 2007.

“We thank the Football Foundation, Huntingdonshire Football Association, partners and Parish Councillors past and present who have given their free time to achieve this very exciting result.”
