Celebrating the Return of 
The Norman Cross Eagle  
      INAUGURATION OF THE NEW EAGLE by
 
    His Grace the Duke of Wellington KG, LVO, OBE, MC, DL
  To commemorate the 1770 French and Dutch prisoners of war who died 
    at the Norman Cross depot between 1797 and 1814.

    At 1.00 pm at the Monument
    On Saturday 2nd April 2005

    Also a Living History Day at the Norman Cross Gallery and Paddock.
    from 11.00 am and 4.00 pm.

     The Norman Cross Camp in History - Paul Chamberlain
     Inauguration of the new eagle at the monument - His Grace the Duke of
     Wellington
     Le Souvenir Francais -Vice Admiral Jean Pierre Lucas
     Laying of commemorative wreaths and prayer of dedication - Canon   
     Richard Longfoot, Rural Dean of Yaxley and Rector of Stilton
 
        
     Admission by programme

    The souvenir Programmes are for sale at Yaxley Library, Yaxley
    Community Project Shop in the Yaxley Shopping Centre and 
    Clive Thorne at 99 Main Street and they are £2 each.  
    
    Parking:
    Free parking at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Norman Cross.

   The photograph above shows the column awaiting the new eagle. On the day, the area will be kept clear by stewards
   to ensure the many local and international dignitaries can perform their tasks and also make the area safe for the public.
