Update on Park Close
  Park Close Development Proposal - Update The Park Close site consists of the semi-derelict
  adult hostel adjacent to the Yaxley Health Centre, and the owners, Peterborough City Council,
  had submitted a planning application to change the use of the site for Residential Development.
  This application was considered by the Development Control Panel of Huntingdonshire District
  Council on 21 May 2007. There were no representations to the Panel in favour of the proposal;
  whereas there were four speakers against this application - Cllr Martin Rickman of Yaxley Parish
  Council; Cllr John Watt who is the HDC ward councillor for Yaxley; Cllr Mack McGuire who is
  the HDC ward councillor for Folksworth; and doctors Tom Davis and Chris Grant of the Yaxley
  Health Centre. After much debate, the Development Control Panel resolved to refuse the application,
  and to retain the land for Health and Social care in the community. Peterborough City Council
  now have the right to appeal this decision, but for the moment Park Close is spared being allocated
  to yet more housing at the expense of a site which will be greatly need for expansion of the Health
  Centre and other Community facilities as the village grows ever larger.
 Update 13th March 2008

 Yaxley Group Practice attended an auction for the site. They had a budget and unfortunately that was exceeded
 and the site went to another party. It is reported that the site is to be rebuilt as a care home. The new owners details
 are unknown although there are a lot of rumours with none confirmed.
