Public Forum

Michelle Fielding (now Newman) addressed the Council regarding anti social behaviour in Yaxley. Following her attendance at the Police Panel Meeting she want to know, if anything, what the Parish Council could do to assist the Police. She was advised by the Council that we were in the process of instigating a meeting and that the meeting iss set for later on in September which also included the attendance of the CCTV representative from HDC. The Police also responded to Mrs Newman later on in the meeting.

Jon Pollard and Mr Burgess addressed the Council with an idea of exchanging our allotments at Great Drove for a larger field further down Great Drove. This would then allow R B Organics the room to expand. At present they are land locked by our allotments. No firm proposals have been made but this Council agreed to take the matter further with R B Organics and confirmed that they would certainly be interested in taking the matter further.

Police Report

The Police informed the Council that following the Panel Meeting held in Stilton on 2nd September 2009 Yaxley and Stilton have been made a priority for Anti Social Behaviour especially in the area of the Recreational Ground and Maltings Square. If called the Police should arrive to both areas within the hour. Consideration is being given to placing a dispersal order on the Recreational Ground. Cllr Thorne said that in the past this had been considered but that once dispersed from the Recreational Ground the youths then tended to gather elsewhere this then created another problem in another area. However, the Police will be looking into this. They reported to the Council that a couple of families in the village have been evicted and moved on due to the children’s behaviour and hopefully this is assist with some of the crime. The Chairman informed the Police and Mrs Newman that we would assist where possible with trying to reduce anti social behaviour.
