Public Forum

Chief Superintendent Mick Gipp responded to the Council’s letter sent to Julie Spence and then answered questions from Councillors. The Council were informed that although it may seem a high crime area, Yaxley is not considered to be a high crime area. A permanent replacement Police Officer for Sue Walker has not yet arrived but that the vacancy is being covered by probation police officers. However, the recruitment programme is catching up and we will, in time, receive a permanent officer.  The CCTV is working and crime has been reduced as a result of the CCTV. An infra red light would assist with the camera on the recreational ground and this is being looked into.

Scouts and Guides – proposals for assistance

Following a meeting held with the Scouts and Guides, the main requirement for them to continue following the burning down of their premises, is to house all the groups for their meetings. We have been asked to provide five slots in the Owen Pooley Hall and Queen’s Park. Cllr Lucas proposed Cllr Kidd seconded and it was carried that they could hire the halls for a period of one year free of charge whereupon the agreement would be reviewed.

Adoption of Playing Field Committee Minutes of 27.10.2009

Proposed Cllr Butcher seconded Cllr Oliver and carried. During the course of this meeting it was agreed that a specification be sent out for tree provision at Queen’s Park. Due to the time of year being right for planting the Minutes asked for this committee make the decision as to which quotation to accept. Cllr Stafford left the room. Quotations had been provided by only two of the five applied for. The Clerk had been contacted by two of the companies asked and had been informed that they would not be interested in quoting for the job as we were asking for a two year maintenance programme. Following the opening of the quotes it was proposed by Cllr Oliver, seconded Cllr Metcalfe and carried that we opt for the cheapest quote provided by D P Stafford Landscapers.
